Ernst-Feuerhake-Brunnen, Public fountain in Coppenbrügge, Germany.

The Ernst-Feuerhake-Brunnen is a public fountain in Coppenbrügge, Germany, showing a bronze woman kneeling to gather grain while two crocodiles spout water into the basin. The sculpture rises from a circular stone basin surrounded by a low rim that collects the water from the spouts.

Merchant Ernst Feuerhake donated this installation in 1907 as part of a project to improve water supply for the community. The donation combined practical use with the beautification of public space during a time when many towns were modernizing their infrastructure.

Danish sculptor Hans Christian Petersen created the bronze figures, which were later cast at the Lauritz Rasmussen foundry in Copenhagen. The choice of a foreign artist for this work reflects the international connections of the community at the beginning of the 20th century.

You can find the installation at the intersection of Schlossstrasse and Bahnhofstrasse, where it marks a central point in the street layout of Coppenbrügge. The space around the basin offers room to pause and allows a view of the figures from different directions.

The installation carries a satyr mask alongside the two crocodiles, which also releases water streams and forms a third source in the ensemble. This combination of mythological and naturalistic elements gives the work an uncommon visual language for a village context.
