The Fahrradmuseum Barrien displays around 70 bicycles from different decades, from early high-wheel models with rubber tires to modern racing machines. The collection presents the technical and construction development of bicycles in a clear permanent exhibition.
Hans Georg Göbel, a car mechanic, collected and restored all the exhibits himself. The oldest piece is a high-wheel bicycle from 1876, a so-called bone-shaker with solid rubber tyres, held as a permanent loan. The museum has been open five days a week since 2022.
The museum's motto, "From the high-wheel to the racing bike", frames the collection of around 70 bicycles. Alongside the machines are bell and lamp models and advertising posters from well-known manufacturers, showing how bicycles were sold and equipped. The Cavallo riding bike from 1975, driven by saddle movements, is a curiosity visitors can examine.
The museum has been open five days a week since 2022. It is privately run by Hans Georg Göbel, who collected and restored all the models himself, so visits are best arranged by contacting the museum in advance, especially for groups.
