Lahauser Spieker, Half-timbered granary in Lahausen, Weyhe, Germany

Lahauser Spieker is a two-storey half-timbered building from 1880 with red brick infill, built as a grain store for the Niemeyer farm. Its cornice area carries patterned brickwork and colouring that earned it the nickname "Lahauser Papagei" among conservationists. The ground floor now holds a workshop and rooms used by the Lahauser Bühne amateur theatre group.

Built in 1880 as a two-storey half-timbered Spieker (granary) for the Niemeyer farm, the building stored grain and later potatoes. In 1945 fire from shots hit it and the neighbouring farm; it served as housing until 1946, then was given a cellar and used as a grain silo. From 1987 to 1990 the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Lahauser Ortsvereine restored it in 1315 working hours.

The ground floor now hosts events and serves as a rehearsal room for the Lahauser Bühne, an amateur theatre group from Lahausen, and a workshop has been added. The building's nickname, "Lahauser Papagei" (Lahauser Parrot), comes from preservationists, who coined it for the stone patterns, colouring and decorated cornice panels.

The building is located on Lahauser Strasse between the Lahausen and Jeebel districts and can be visited during events. For specific information about access times and viewing arrangements, it is best to contact the local tourism office or the event organizers.
