Jüdischer Friedhof, Jewish cemetery in Süchteln, Viersen, Germany.
Jüdischer Friedhof is a Jewish burial ground located in Süchteln within a quiet residential area surrounded by hedges and trees. The site preserves six gravestones, including two natural stone slabs and a 2-meter-high burial stele carved with Hebrew inscriptions.
The burial ground operated from 1749 to 1931 and replaced an earlier cemetery whose location is now lost. After 1955, authorities leveled graves older than 30 years, which is why only a handful of headstones survive today.
The cemetery reflects traditional Jewish burial customs with its layout divided by a central path separating the grounds into two distinct sections.
The cemetery is accessible via Heidweg street and situated in a residential neighborhood that is easy to reach on foot. The grounds are enclosed by hedges, creating a quiet setting for a respectful visit.
Only a handful of the original graves remain, as the majority were removed during the 1950s. These surviving stones are reminders of when this cemetery was an active burial place for the local Jewish community.
