Dr.-Albert-Finck-Schule, School building in Hambach an der Weinstraße, Germany.
Dr.-Albert-Finck-Schule is a school building located at Horstweg 21, constructed between 1956 and 1958 by architect Ludwig Gunzelmann. The structure features a protected gable sgraffito and displays modern architectural design characteristic of its postwar construction period.
The school was established in 1956 and named after a former Minister of Education of Rhineland-Palatinate. Until 2003 it served both primary and secondary education before its role changed.
The gymnasium displays an aluminum relief showing sports scenes that reflects the importance of physical activity in education. Artist Georg Vorhauer created a glass mosaic within the building, bringing color and life to the spaces.
The building sits in an easily accessible location with clear street signage for navigation. Visitors should remember this is an active school facility, so access and visiting times may be restricted.
Between 1965 and 1969 architect Michael Goos led an expansion that added new learning spaces to the original structure. This addition shows how the building adapted to serve growing student enrollment.
