Nesselröden Castle, Renaissance castle in Nesselröden, Germany.

Nesselröden Castle is a fortified residence in the Hessian town of Herleshausen built with stone walls, timber framing, and a prominent staircase tower. The structure is covered with traditional roof tiles and displays the typical construction style of a Renaissance castle from this region.

The castle was built in 1592 by the Treusch von Buttlar family and has shaped the architectural character of the region ever since. The family was a major landowner in northern Hesse and the building embodied their wealth and influence at that time.

The castle displays Renaissance architectural features that were valued by wealthy families in the region. Its stone walls and distinctive staircase tower reflect the building traditions common to this area.

The castle is located at Holzhäuser Straße 19 in Herleshausen and is easily visible from the street. Visitors should be aware that the building is privately owned and can only be viewed from the exterior.

The castle received the Hessian Monument Protection Prize in 2021 for extensive restoration work on its facades and drainage systems. These renovations demonstrate a commitment to preserving this historical building in modern times.
