The Dorfkirche Rüsseina features a medieval east tower, double wooden galleries, and a wide hall that accommodates 1300 people in the Meissen region.
Built in 1786, the church incorporated an existing tower from the 13th or 14th century, making it one of the largest village churches in Saxony.
The church maintains partnerships with the Lutheran congregation of Vilaka in Latvia and serves 19 surrounding villages through regular services and concerts.
The church underwent exterior renovations between 1995 and 1996, and its Jehmlich organ from 1871 received restoration work in 2005.
The interior features a notable pulpit altar from 1786 and contains burial vaults of local estate owners in the surrounding cemetery.
