St. Martin, Roman Catholic church building in Dittelstedt, Germany
St. Martin is a church building in Dittelstedt near Erfurt distinguished by four rounded arch windows on each side of the nave. An octagonal tower crowned with a pointed slate-covered spire dominates its profile.
This building was constructed in 1682 to replace an earlier structure destroyed by Swedish forces in 1647. The tower arrived as a gift from Napoleon in 1812, transferred from the Corpus Christi Chapel.
The interior displays a baroque altar and Stations of the Cross that originally came from the Corpus Christi Chapel, complemented by a small 1600 relief showing Mary and John.
This building serves as a subsidiary of St. Nicholas Parish in Erfurt-Melchendorf and holds regular religious services for Dittelstedt's Catholic community. Visitors will find an accessible, traditionally arranged worship space.
A historic Böttcher organ from 1884 was installed as a replacement for an instrument damaged during wartime. This musical instrument is currently undergoing restoration to preserve its heritage.
