Urbach Tower, Timber observation tower in Urbach, Germany
Urbach Tower is a 14-meter timber structure made from curved cross-laminated timber panels that create a slender form. The structure was assembled from prefabricated components and stands within the Remstal landscape.
The tower was completed for the 2019 Remstal Garden Show and is one of sixteen permanent installations across the region. It emerged as part of an exhibition project that integrated contemporary architecture into the landscape.
The structure showcases contemporary timber design developed through university research and appeals to those interested in innovative building methods. It represents how modern architecture engages with natural materials in the Remstal region.
The location is easily accessible on foot and offers clear views from the valley below. There are no special access requirements and visitors can view the structure at any time.
