Tegeler Hafen

Tegeler Hafen, Harbor complex in Reinickendorf, Germany.

Tegeler Hafen is a harbor complex in Berlin with residential buildings ranging from three to eight floors that line waterfront promenades and public spaces along the water. The structures frame a mixed-use neighborhood where apartments face the harbor and connect to landscaped pathways.

After World War II, the harbor served industrial purposes until the International Building Exhibition of 1984-1987 initiated its transformation. This redevelopment converted the former working port into a residential neighborhood.

International architects contributed to the harbor's development, including Charles Moore, John Ruble, and Buzz Yudell, who won the design competition in 1980.

The area is well served by public transport and features well-maintained pedestrian paths along the waterfront. You can walk freely through the public spaces and along the harbor edge at your own pace.

Among the buildings, the Grumbach City Villa stands out with its unusual cylindrical staircases and semi-circular floor plans. The Stern Villa, by contrast, draws from 19th-century forms and creates a stylistic contrast with the modern surroundings.
