Johannissteine, Natural monument and erratic boulders near Lage, Germany.

The Johannissteine consist of three large granite blocks, with the largest measuring 6.2 meters long and weighing approximately 104 tons.

Glaciers from the Saale Ice Age transported these granite blocks from the Åland Islands in the northern Baltic Sea to their current location 200,000 years ago.

The stones feature 15 distinct engravings, including hearts, pentagrams, notches, and circles, along with 13 drilled holes and channels from ancient times.

Visitors can reach the Johannissteine by following the street An den Johannissteinen, located 1.5 kilometers southeast of Lage's center.

Three pentagon-shaped holes in the largest stone function as an astronomical calendar, enabling precise determination of the winter solstice using inserted rods.
