Schlosspark Rheda, Castle park in Rheda-Wiedenbrück, Germany
Schlosspark Rheda is a 25-hectare garden surrounding the castle, featuring straight paths, trimmed hedges, an apothecary garden, and an orangery with exotic plants. An adjacent botanical park can be reached through a footpath on the north side of the grounds.
The garden has been documented since 1623, beginning as a medieval tree garden that later became a commercial plant nursery in the 19th century. It opened to the public in 1842 and has remained accessible to visitors since then.
The gardens were recreated using plans from the 19th century, featuring plants and water features from that era within boxed hedges. Visitors can see how the space was designed to be experienced through different garden rooms.
The park is easy to walk through with wide, level paths connecting the garden sections. Starting from the north entrance gives convenient access to both the castle gardens and the adjacent botanical park.
The grounds preserve several Baroque-style garden alleys that connect different sections and reflect the original spatial layout. These pathways guide visitors along intentional routes through different garden types.
