Central Garage, Automobile museum in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe, Germany
The Central Garage spans three exhibition areas covering around 700 square meters and presents vehicles representing more than 100 years of automobile manufacturing. The collection displays how vehicle technology evolved from its origins to the present day through authentic examples from different periods.
The building itself dates from the 1940s and was originally an automobile repair workshop and gas station with its original equipment still intact. This structure forms the framework for the vehicle collection displayed within.
The exhibitions document regional automotive manufacturing through vintage photographs, mechanical components, and records that show how German car production evolved over time.
The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday from 12:00 to 16:30 with free admission and facilities for all visitors. The exhibition areas are laid out clearly and allow for a relaxed visit without time pressure.
The museum features rotating exhibitions with rare BMW models from the 1960s and vehicles that competed in the historic 1904 Gordon Bennett race. These special collections allow visitors to experience automobile history directly through racing vehicles and design classics.
