Municipality of Falanthos, Former municipality in Arcadia, Greece
Falanthos is a former municipal area in Arcadia on the Peloponnese that spreads across mountainous terrain containing several traditional villages and hamlets. The region was shaped by highland settlements before it was administratively merged into the larger municipality of Tripoli in 2011.
This area operated as an independent municipality with its own administration in the Arcadian highlands. The 2011 administrative reform integrated it into the larger municipality of Tripoli, ending its status as a separate administrative unit.
The villages here preserve traditional Greek mountain architecture with stone houses and narrow lanes that reflect how highland residents have lived for generations.
The area consists of small mountain villages accessible by rural roads with basic services available. The best way to visit is from Tripoli, the larger administrative center that offers all essential facilities and supplies.
This is one of the most sparsely settled zones in the Arcadia region with mostly seasonal residents and abandoned houses. Many traditional stone homes have remained unoccupied for decades, giving the landscape a frozen-in-time character.
