Fort Roupel, Military museum and fortification in Promachonas, Greece.
Fort Roupel stands at the northern border of Central Macedonia, featuring over 4,000 meters of underground galleries through the mountainous terrain.
Constructed in 1914, the fort became part of the Metaxas Line in the 1930s and defended against German forces for three days in April 1941.
The museum displays World War II weapons, medals, and military uniforms that belonged to soldiers who defended the fort during combat operations.
Visitors can access one main gallery, explore the small museum, walk through observation points, and pay respects at the soldiers' memorial.
The fortification system includes underground tunnels carved into the Rupel Gorge, where the Strymon River flows between Greece and Bulgaria.
