Serbian Museum of Corfu, Military museum in Corfu, Greece.
The Serbian Museum of Corfu is a military museum in the Old Town that displays around 386 objects organized into ten thematic sections. The collection features photographs, uniforms, weapons, and military equipment related to World War I.
After the 1915 Austro-Hungarian attack, around 150,000 Serbian soldiers retreated to Corfu and established a military base there. The island became a temporary seat of government and refuge for a nation at war.
The museum holds Serbian regimental flags and religious objects that reveal how soldiers and civilians worshiped and lived during their time on the island. These items tell the story of an entire community that found itself far from home.
The museum is located in the Old Town on Moustoxidou Street and is easily reached on foot. The space is compact, allowing visitors to view the collection without much difficulty.
Medical instruments used by Serbian doctors on Vido Island in 1916 are part of the collection, showing the humanitarian side of the war. Original decorations from the Serbian Kingdom are also displayed, symbolizing the continuity of a government in exile.
