Pavliani, Mountain village in Lamia Municipality, Greece
Pavliani is a mountain village in Lamia Municipality sitting at about 1040 meters on Mount Oeta, split into upper and lower sections. The settlement lies near the source of the Asopos River.
The village became the seat of Rodontia Municipality in 1835 under Phocis and Locris Prefecture. It gained independent status as a separate community in 1912.
The village keeps its mountain identity through stone buildings and traditional squares where people gather for local celebrations. This layout shapes how the community lives together today.
A recreational park at the village edge offers different activity areas, including a musical bridge, a museum of water-powered mechanisms, and adventure zones for children. The location is most accessible during dry weather.
A monument at the entrance of Kato Pavliani marks the 1943 battle between Greek Resistance fighters and Italian troops during World War II. This memorial shows the important role the village played during that period.
