Arnaia municipality, Former municipality at Mount Holomontas, Chalkidiki, Greece.
Arnaia is a former municipality on Mount Holomontas in Chalkidiki, situated at approximately 600 meters elevation. The settlement features traditional stone houses with red tile roofs, narrow lanes, and a central square that serves as its focal point.
The settlement was known as Liarikovi until 1928 and developed as one of twelve Iron Villages engaged in mining activities across northern Greece. These mining communities shaped the economic life of the region for many decades.
The Historical and Folklore Museum occupies a Macedonian mansion and displays farming equipment and household objects that represent daily life in this mountain community. The collection shows how residents lived and worked in the region.
Visitors can reach the settlement via the EO Thessalonikis Poligirou Highway from Thessaloniki, following a route of approximately 70 kilometers. The road passes through Chalkidiki and is generally well marked with directional signs.
The Weaving Museum honors the legacy of local artisan Hariklia Dimitrakoudi and preserves traditions of this textile craft. The museum demonstrates how this skilled art was maintained by residents across generations.
