Stavros Mavrothalassitis Stadium

The Stavros Mavrothalassitis Stadium is a sports venue in Egaleo featuring a natural grass field with seating sections distributed around the playing area. The stadium can hold approximately 8,000 spectators across its various stands.

The stadium opened in 1968 and suffered significant damage during the 1999 earthquake that struck the region. Following this destruction, the facility underwent complete reconstruction work between 2005 and 2006.

The stadium holds the record for its largest attendance of 17,917 spectators during a match between Egaleo FC and Olympiacos CFP in March 1973.

You can reach the stadium using bus lines A16, C16, A17, and B17, which serve the area regularly. By car, take Iera Odos street and turn onto Thivon Street to access the venue.

The stadium's capacity was significantly reduced after the earthquake, with safety requirements taking priority during the reconstruction process. This change reflects how the venue was rebuilt with more stringent modern standards.
