Established in 2020, the museum occupies a former salt workers' dormitory building, which later served as a hay storage facility in Tourlida.
The museum houses a collection of 1,500 saltshakers from the 19th century, illustrating the evolution of salt usage in Greek households.
Located near the Mesologgi salterns, which produce 50-70% of Greek salt, the museum provides educational programs about salt harvesting techniques.
The facility presents Afrina, Greece's only fleur de sel, which forms under specific weather conditions and requires manual collection using traditional tools.
