Saint Mary of Dovra Monastery, Orthodox monastery in Veria Municipality, Greece
The Saint Mary of Dovra Monastery stands between two hills with dense vegetation, featuring a three-aisled basilica with a wooden roof and exo-narthex.
The monastery served as a headquarters for Macedonian leaders during the Greek War of Independence in 1822, leading to its destruction by Ottoman forces.
The monastery maintains Orthodox traditions through its male monastic community, established in 1995 under the jurisdiction of the Holy Metropolis of Beroia.
Visitors can access the monastery grounds, which include renovated guest accommodations, a reconstructed spring, and reformed courtyards for religious ceremonies.
From 1950 to 1986, the monastery premises housed a Children's Home that provided shelter for orphaned children under various welfare organizations.
