Revythoussa, LNG terminal islet in Salamina, Greece.
Revythoussa is a small islet in the Saronic Gulf situated roughly 500 meters from Agia Triada on the mainland. The island hosts an LNG terminal with storage tanks designed to receive, hold, and regasify liquefied natural gas for distribution across the country.
The islet underwent transformation starting in 2000 when infrastructure for receiving and processing liquefied natural gas was constructed. This development marked a turning point in how Greece manages its gas supply and distribution.
The development of Revythoussa represents Greece's commitment to establishing energy independence and supporting regional natural gas distribution networks.
The site is not open to visitors as it is an active industrial facility. The best views of the island can be seen from the mainland shore near Agia Triada.
The facility can sustain Greece's energy requirements for up to 15 days without additional shipments, receiving 62 LNG vessels in 2022.
