Oullins spans 4.4 square kilometers across southeastern France, positioned 6 kilometers southwest of Lyon at an elevation of 178 meters above sea level.
The settlement evolved from a population of 2,000 residents in 1793 to a substantial urban center with over 27,000 inhabitants recorded in 2021.
The town features two notable architectural landmarks from the 16th century: the Grand-Perron and Petit-Perron châteaus, along with an 18th-century palace.
The Oullins station connects to the TER Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes rail network, providing transportation links throughout the region for residents and visitors.
On January 1, 2024, Oullins merged with Pierre-Bénite to establish a new administrative entity called Oullins-Pierre-Bénite.
