The construction of Tour Oxygène started in 2007 under mayor Gérard Collomb's administration and reached completion on June 2, 2010.

The tower marks the evolution of Lyon's business district, forming part of a larger development project that includes the adjacent Cours Oxygène shopping center.

Seven elevators serve the building's occupants, while eight workstations per floor provide office space across 28,794 square meters of commercial area.

The French national railway company SNCF maintains its computing headquarters within the building, utilizing substantial portions of the available office space.
