Pic du Midi d'Ossau, Mountain peak in Pyrénées-Atlantiques, France.

The Pic du Midi d'Ossau stands at 2,884 meters and forms a pyramid-shaped silhouette within the French Pyrenees mountain range.

François de Foix-Candale led the first reported expedition to climb the mountain in 1552, though the first documented successful ascent occurred in 1797.

Local residents refer to the mountain's two summits as Jean and Pierre, following the Béarn tradition of naming the eldest and youngest sons in families.

The mountain climb starts from Laruns village through the Pourtalet route, requiring a stop at the Refuge de Pombie before reaching the summit.

The mountain originated as a volcanic formation, leaving behind a distinctive tooth-shaped peak that stands out among the surrounding Pyrenees landscape.
