Bauduen

Bauduen is a commune in Var with stone buildings rising along a hillside that overlooks Lake Sainte-Croix. Narrow lanes connect the structures and lead to a central square with a fountain, while the waterfront offers beaches and access points to the lake.

The village developed during the medieval period and displays traces of different eras across its structures, including defensive walls and Renaissance doorways. Sundials from the 19th century remain incorporated into the buildings.

The Sunday morning market at Esplanade du Bord du Lac displays regional produce and local goods that reflect the area's traditions. The open setting with views across the water creates a gathering space where locals and visitors naturally mix.

An astronomical observatory equipped with telescopes allows visitors to observe the night sky under exceptional conditions due to minimal light pollution in the area. The hilltop location overlooking the lake basin contributes to the excellent viewing conditions for stargazing.
