Rungis, Administrative commune in Val-de-Marne, France.

Rungis is an administrative commune in Val-de-Marne, located in the southern suburbs of Paris. The area consists mainly of residential neighborhoods and local services for its inhabitants.

The settlement first appeared in royal records in 1124 under the name Rungi Villa. This early documentation shows that the area has been part of the region for many centuries.

The residents, called Rungissois and Rungissoises, gather at the Church of Notre-Dame de l'Assomption for community events and religious services. The place maintains a local sense of belonging through these shared spaces.

Visitors can access Paris through the Rungis-La Fraternelle station on RER Line C, and Orly Airport is nearby for travel. Keep in mind that this is mainly a residential area, so plan accordingly for what you want to see.

The place holds major importance due to the Marché International, a large wholesale market for fresh food that shapes supply across the country. This vast market complex often remains unknown to visitors, even though it touches the food of millions daily.
