Château de Beauregard, Loire Valley

Château de Beauregard is a Renaissance castle in Cellettes near Blois, with a main building and two side wings. The complex also includes extensive gardens and several interior rooms displaying furniture and artwork from various periods.

The castle was founded around 1545 by Jean du Thiers, who served as secretary under King Henry II. The building received its characteristic Renaissance form through the renovation of an earlier manor house.

The Portrait Gallery displays paintings of French and European figures from different periods, hung along the walls for visitors to view. Walking through the room, you can see the faces of rulers, nobles, and other important people of their time.

The property can be visited through guided tours that provide insight into the rooms and their collections. The gardens are also accessible on foot and offer space for longer stays and walks.

The floor of the Portrait Gallery is covered with hand-painted ceramic tiles from Delft that display geometric patterns. These Dutch tiles form an elaborate mosaic beneath the paintings on the walls.
