Cavalaire-sur-Mer

Cavalaire-sur-Mer is a coastal town in the Var department featuring a wide sandy beach facing the Gulf of Saint-Tropez. A working port with sailing and fishing boats lies along the waterfront, backed by low mountains to the south.

The town played a key role during World War II when Allied troops landed here in 1944 as part of the southern French liberation campaign. This military operation transformed the region's trajectory in the final stages of the war.
