Pujols, Medieval village in Lot-et-Garonne, France
Pujols is a village in Lot-et-Garonne that sits on a hilltop overlooking the Lot Valley and the nearby city of Villeneuve-sur-Lot. The settlement is compact and shaped by old stone buildings and two churches that define its character.
The settlement began as a fortified site first mentioned in 1259 and was under the rule of the County of Toulouse. During the religious conflicts of the 13th century, the place experienced destruction and later rebuilding.
The two churches of Saint Nicholas and Saint Foy shape the village with their medieval and Renaissance architecture. They are places where you can still feel the craftsmanship and religious meaning of past centuries.
The village is accessible by the N21 road, which connects it to larger cities in the region. A visit is best explored on foot since the streets are narrow and buildings stand close together.
The Toy Museum has displayed a large collection of authentic playthings from past generations since 2015. Visitors can touch and handle many of these objects and experience how children played long ago.
