Les sept Laux

Les Sept Laux is a ski resort in the Belledonne mountains that combines three linked areas—Prapoutel, Le Pleynet, and Pipay—with around 120 kilometers of slopes. The runs range between 1350 and 2400 meters in elevation and offer options for different skill levels.

The resort opened in 1971 and connected three separate mountain villages into one continuous skiing area. This merger marked an important step in developing French winter sports infrastructure.

The area holds deep ties to the alpine way of life practiced in surrounding mountain villages, which appears in local restaurants and events. You can sense this connection when you taste traditional dishes and meet people who have skied here for generations.

The area is accessible by regular buses from Grenoble, with equipment rental and ski schools at each base station. It helps to arrive early, especially on weekends, to avoid longer waits at the lifts.

The area uses over 100 snow cannons to maintain reliable conditions throughout the season from December to March. This investment allows skiing to continue even when natural snowfall is lighter than usual.
