Le Lavandou, Mediterranean coastal commune in Var, France
Le Lavandou extends over 29 square kilometers of coastline with an elevation of 10 meters above the Mediterranean Sea at latitude 43.137778.
Genoese fishermen established the settlement around 1730, followed by Catalan sailors in 1765, before it separated from Bormes to become independent in 1913.
The municipal coat of arms features a crowned golden lion with blue waves and three golden dolphins, representing the maritime identity of this French town.
The municipal administration office, located at Place Ernest Reyer, operates from Monday to Friday between 8:30 AM and 6:00 PM with a lunch break.
The name originates from either the local lavender variety called Queirélé growing in surrounding hills or from the ancient washing place for fishermen's wives.
