Plage du Rossignol

Plage du Rossignol is a cove with fine sand and pebbles bordered by rocky cliffs along the Mediterranean coast near Le Lavandou. The shoreline curves gently and is backed by pine trees that descend nearly to the water's edge.

The beach became designated as a naturist area in the 1960s when European coastal regions started setting aside spaces for clothing-optional swimming. This shift was part of broader changes in how Mediterranean communities viewed different leisure practices.

The beach welcomes both clothed and unclothed swimmers, reflecting how the French Mediterranean treats coastal spaces as inclusive for different preferences. This acceptance of varied bathing styles has become woven into daily seaside life here.

Access is via Avenue Dr Duroux to parking areas, then down a marked path to the shoreline. The descent is fairly short but steep in places, so allow time for the walk especially on warm days.

The beach faces west, creating shifting light throughout the day with direct sun lasting until sunset. This orientation makes it a favored spot for watching the day end and capturing photographs.
