Réserve Cousteau, Protected marine area in Basse-Terre, Guadeloupe, France.
The reserve spans 400 hectares around Pigeon Islands, featuring coral reefs, tropical fish, sea turtles, and numerous marine species in the Caribbean waters.
In 2009, the marine area received official protection status as part of Guadeloupe National Park, covering 987 hectares from Bouillante to Pointe Noire.
Marine biologists and researchers regularly study the coral reef ecosystems within the reserve to monitor biodiversity and environmental changes over time.
The water temperature maintains 26°C year-round, with diving centers offering courses from €55 to €460 and equipment rental for various water activities.
Two cargo ships, the Franjack and Gustavia, were purposely sunk within the reserve to create artificial reefs that now support diverse marine communities.
