Château de Montgeoffroy, 18th-century castle in Mazé-Milon, France.

Château de Montgeoffroy is an 18th-century castle in Mazé-Milon featuring symmetrical wings, a central courtyard, and formally arranged gardens. The property also includes stables and spans several hectares of grounds designed in the classical French style.

The castle was rebuilt between 1772 and 1776 by Marshal de Contades during the reign of King Louis XV. This reconstruction occurred when French architectural design was becoming more refined and geometric in its approach.

The collection of roughly 260 copper and tin kitchen pieces reveals how noble families prepared and enjoyed meals. The wall paintings and furnishings offer insight into the daily life and taste of the castle's wealthy residents.

The castle is accessible by foot, though some interior areas require a guided tour to view properly. It's best to check opening days in advance, as the property is not open daily.

The castle remains a private residence with descendants of the original builders still living there today. This blend of active family home and public visitation makes the experience feel genuinely inhabited rather than frozen in time.
