The Landsberg Castle features two sets of defensive walls, a square keep, and decorated Romanesque windows overlooking the Alsace region.
Conrad de Landsberg constructed the fortress between 1197 and 1200 to protect the abbeys of Hohenbourg, Niedermunster, and Andlau.
The castle holds architectural elements from three centuries, including a notable oriel window in the chapel and fine Romanesque gemel windows.
Visitors can access the castle through a 45-minute walk from the parking area in Heiligenstein, following the GR5 trail marked with red rectangles.
The castle stands at 585 meters altitude and belongs to the Türckheim family, who maintain ongoing restoration and excavation projects.
