PSL Research University

PSL Research University is a research university in the 6th arrondissement formed by eleven member institutions offering programs in sciences, engineering, humanities, and performing arts. The different campuses sit across central Paris, each with its own buildings, lecture halls, and research facilities.

The university formed in 2019 from the merger of historical Parisian educational institutions whose collaboration began in 2004. The participating institutions kept their own traditions while developing shared degree programs and research projects.

The name PSL stands for Paris Sciences et Lettres, combining science and letters in a network of schools across the city center. Students move between different locations and use libraries, laboratories, and lecture halls distributed across several arrondissements.

The campuses spread across several arrondissements in central Paris, so visitors can use public transport to move between buildings. Information about individual schools and their addresses is available on the university website.

Several Nobel Prize and Fields Medal recipients are connected to the member schools, whose histories trace back over centuries. The buildings themselves reflect different architectural styles, from historical facades to modern extensions.
