Château de Vixouze

Château de Vixouze is a castle in Polminhac with a central square stone tower rising multiple stories, complemented by two wings from the 18th century. The complex includes a chapel and medieval rooms that together shape the overall character of the place.

The site was documented as a villa in 930 and developed by 1267 into a noble residence with a single tower. After the Hundred Years' War, the structure was rebuilt and received its current form.

The castle preserves its medieval architecture and serves today as a venue for weddings, seminars, and film productions. Visitors can see how the place blends traditional structures with contemporary use.

The castle offers guided tours throughout the year, allowing visitors to explore medieval rooms, the chapel, and a 17th-century bakery facility. It is helpful to check in advance when tours are available and whether certain days are reserved for private events.

A 19th-century fountain stands at the entrance, marking the period when the castle received its final architectural modifications. This fountain is an often-overlooked detail that shows the site's structural development in more recent times.
