Saint-Nicolas-du-Chardonnet, Catholic church in 5th arrondissement, France

Saint-Nicolas-du-Chardonnet features a classical facade designed by Charles Le Brun, with cruciform pillars and pilasters adorned with acanthus leaves inside the building.

The construction of the current building started in 1656 under architects Michel Noblet and François Levé, reaching completion in 1763 due to financial constraints.

The church maintains traditional Latin Mass services under the management of the Society of St. Pius X, offering regular religious ceremonies to the community.

Located at the intersection of rue des Bernardins and rue Monge, the church remains open daily for visitors interested in religious services or architectural observation.

The name Chardonnet derives from the thistle fields that surrounded the original 13th-century chapel, which belonged to the Abbey of Saint Victor.
