Abbaye Notre-Dame de Bon-Repos

Abbaye Notre-Dame de Bon-Repos is a Cistercian monastery in ruins, situated along the Blavet River with stone remains of buildings spanning several centuries. The preserved structures include sections of the church, cloister galleries, and subsidiary buildings nestled within surrounding woodland.

The monastery was founded in 1184 and operated as a religious community for roughly 600 years. The French Revolution of 1789 forced the monks to abandon the site, after which the structures were dismantled for building stone.

The site hosts contemporary art exhibitions throughout the year and presents annual summer performances involving hundreds of local participants.

The site is accessible year-round for exploring the outdoor grounds and stone remains at your own pace. Spring through autumn offers the best visiting conditions, with guided tours available during these warmer months.
