Abbaye de La Bussière

Abbaye de La Bussière is a former Cistercian monastery near Dijon and Beaune that spreads across parklike grounds and displays Gothic architecture with pointed arches and a Latin cross floor plan. The structure now serves as a luxury hotel with conference facilities and a consecrated crypt available for wedding ceremonies.

The monastery was founded in 1131 and experienced its peak during the late medieval period when it housed many monks. The Hundred Years War brought decline from which the site never fully recovered.

The abbey takes its name from its location along the Ouche river and functions today as an upscale hotel where visitors experience monastic spaces reimagined for contemporary use. The on-site dining establishments serve regional cuisine that reflects local food traditions.

The grounds are best explored on foot as they spread across generous parkland and are lined with mature trees. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes and allow time for a leisurely walk through the property.
