The Château de Barbirey-sur-Ouche is a three-storey stone building with a pale beige facade and a steep brown tiled hipped roof. The symmetrical front has a central double door flanked by six tall windows with light blue shutters, three on each side, and two smaller windows near the roofline. Two tall stone chimneys stand at the upper roof corners, and a single rounded dormer window sits above the entrance. The estate covers 8 hectares.

The land of Barbirey belonged to the barony of Marigny from the Middle Ages. In the 18th century the banker Jean Pâris de Monmartel acquired the Marigny estate, and after his death his son, the Marquis de Brunoy, had the present house rebuilt. In the late 19th century it was bought by Raymond de Blic and his wife Marie de Foucauld, sister of Father Charles de Foucauld, who stayed there several times. The estate has been inscribed as a monument historique since 29 December 2005.

The château takes its name from Barbirey-sur-Ouche, the village in the Côte-d'Or where it stands. Marie de Foucauld, sister of Father Charles de Foucauld, lived here after she and her husband Raymond de Blic bought the estate in the late 19th century, and her brother stayed at the château several times. The 8-hectare park has held the jardin remarquable label.
