Parc du 26e Centenaire, Public park and garden in 10th arrondissement, Marseille, France.
Parc du 26e Centenaire is a large public park spanning eighteen hectares in Marseille's 10th district. The grounds feature a central fountain, a canal with twenty-six water jets, and paved walkways connecting different garden sections.
The site was previously the Gare du Prado railway station before being transformed in 1998. The city of Marseille replanted the land with thousands of shrubs and trees to create this garden space.
The space displays gardens inspired by different regions of the world. Walking through, you notice fragrant plants in the Provençal section, palms in the Arab-Andalusian area, sand dunes in the African garden, and a lake in the English-style section.
The park opens early in the morning and stays open until evening, with shorter hours in cooler months and later closing times during warmer months. Paved pathways make it easy to walk through all garden areas without difficulty.
The park contains twenty-six sequoia trees planted throughout the grounds. These trees represent each century of Marseille's recorded history since the city's establishment.
