Château de Montaigu, Historical château in Laneuveville-devant-Nancy, France.

Château de Montaigu is a château in Laneuveville-devant-Nancy combining multiple architectural styles from different periods. Its facades and interior spaces blend traditional and more modern elements added during renovations from the 17th through 19th centuries.

The building took its original form in the early 17th century and underwent several significant transformations. A devastating fire in November 1921 destroyed major sections, after which extensive reconstruction work restored the structure using modern construction methods.

The château received the Maisons des Illustres designation in 2020 for its collection gathered by Suzanne and Édouard Salin, who made it available to the public. The rooms you walk through reflect the tastes and interests of those who assembled these pieces over time.

The château can be visited on select occasions throughout the year, with certain events like European Heritage Days providing regular access. Plan your visit in advance since opening hours are limited and the site does not operate daily.

During World War II, Édouard Salin protected the château from destruction through careful stewardship during the occupation. This personal act of preservation was crucial to ensuring the collection and building survived to the present day.
