Féru des Sciences

Féru des Sciences is a science museum in Jarville-la-Malgrange dedicated to iron processing and metalworking techniques. It features several areas including galleries with machinery, a suspended garden, and a forge space where visitors can watch live demonstrations.

The museum evolved from the original Museum of Iron History and was transformed to offer broader science education. This shift in focus moved away from history alone toward active scientific learning for visitors.

The name Féru refers to a passion for craftsmanship and the iron-working heritage of Lorraine. Throughout the space, tools, machinery, and designs show how local craft traditions and scientific knowledge are deeply connected.

The best time to visit is mid-morning or early afternoon to experience the interactive demonstrations. It is helpful to check ahead which demonstrations are scheduled during your visit, as these are offered at specific times.

A special area called Espace à Bidouilles invites visitors to conduct their own experiments and explore physics and chemistry concepts related to iron. This hands-on approach makes scientific ideas understandable through direct experience.
