Bibliothèque de l'Arsenal
Bibliothèque de l'Arsenal, National library in 4th arrondissement, France
The Bibliothèque de l'Arsenal contains over one million books and 12,000 manuscripts within a former military compound building in Paris.
Founded in 1757, this library originated from the private collection of Marc-René d'Argenson and became a public institution during the French Revolution in 1797.
The reading rooms house French literature collections from the 16th to 19th centuries, including documents from the Bastille and papers of notable writers.
The library opens from 10 AM to 6 PM on weekdays, with guided tours available in French on Wednesdays at 3 PM and Saturdays at 10:30 AM.
The restored Salon de Musique contains manuscript and printed music scores primarily from the 18th century, along with historical occult texts.
