Château du Pailly

Château du Pailly is a fortified structure with round towers at each corner that displays Renaissance decorations in its inner honor courtyard. The building combines military strength with elegant artistic elements from this period.

The castle was built between 1563 and 1573 for a companion of François I and stands on the foundations of a 14th-century fortress. The new construction occurred during a time when the family wanted to display its power and wealth.

The entrance area displays the family motto of the Saulx-Tavannes with decorative elements such as mullioned windows and lion sculptures. These details tell visitors about the values and taste of the noble family who lived here.

Visitors can take guided tours with volunteer guides or explore independently during regular opening hours. It is best to check in advance when tours are available to fully experience the interior.

The Captain's Room preserves old frescoes, while the golden hall is equipped with monumental fireplaces. These rooms showcase the luxury and craftsmanship that remain inside.
