Abbaye Saint-Martin-des-Glandières

Abbaye Saint-Martin-des-Glandières is a Benedictine monastery in Longeville-lès-Saint-Avold that includes a chapel, medieval buildings, and ponds from its time as a religious community. Today it serves as a specialized healthcare facility providing medical and social services.

The monastery was founded in 587 by Duke Bodogisel of Aquitaine and underwent several rebuildings over the centuries. Major renovations took place in 1427, 1552, and in the 17th century.

The chapel features stained glass windows created after World War II by Emmanuel Simminger and his son. These artistic works shape the religious appearance of the place today.

An old millstone from the original monastery is integrated into the current structure, linking the modern facility to its medieval past. This element shows how physical remains of the early community have survived to this day.
