Abbaye Saint-Pons, Cistercian abbey in Gémenos, France.

The Saint-Pons Abbey features a crenelated facade among trees, with a high-ceiling nave and remnants of original cloisters in Romanesque style.

Founded in 1205 by Dame Garcende, the abbey housed Cistercian nuns until 1427, when they relocated to Marseille due to security concerns.

The abbey represents the most complete example of a female monastery in Provence, marking the fourth Cistercian establishment in the region.

The abbey opens for guided tours during Heritage Days and by appointment, with access through the RD2 road connecting Gémenos to Plan d'Aups.

The building sits within Saint-Pons Park, where red algae grows in the valley waters, contributing to local natural heritage.
