The Saint Caprais Cathedral features Romanesque architecture with thick walls, semicircular arches, and sturdy pillars supporting the vaulted ceiling across its structure.
The cathedral's construction began in the 12th century on the site of a previous church founded by Saint Caprasius, a 4th-century Christian martyr.
The interior paintings illustrate the history of Christianity through representations of Agen's first martyrs, Evangelists, Apostles, patriarchs, and kings of Israel.
The cathedral contains the largest organ in Lot-et-Garonne department, with 45 registers distributed across three manuals and one pedal-board.
The bell tower, built in 1835, presents three different Gothic architectural styles arranged in reverse chronological order from bottom to top.
